We are told that grandchildren are a delight (we're not quite there). But, what about seeing your great-grandchildren and even your great-great-grandchildren? To see your familial line continue on must invoke a sense of pride (in a good way), prosperity (people-wise), and confidence in the future. Although not many have the opportunity to see 3 or 4 physical generations, God gives us the privilege and excitement to see 3rd, 4th, even 7th generation - spiritual generations. It occurs through multiplying disciples. May your generations be fruitful and too numerous to count!
At the writing of our last newsletter in December, Jeff was on a plane bound for India. He was joined by a team from Texas who are all practitioners in their communities, seeing people come to faith and being discipled. They trained Indian believers who are planting churches. They worked with a long-time national friend who is seeing phenomenal growth in the Kingdom. In 10 days, 561 people were trained in the Gospel, basic discipleship and starting churches, 63 believed in Christ as their Savior, and 27 were baptized. One of the believers had come to faith 3 months before and had already planted his first church; the team trained members of his family who had been recently baptized because he had shared Christ with them. Thus far, seventeen members of his family have believed in Christ. Also while there, Jeff met a great-great-great-great-great-grandchild of his (that's 7 generations)! Wow! How exciting to see and hear of healthy disciples/children who are multiplying!
Last weekend, we were in Memphis to encourage, train, and support about 40 disciple-makers (most of them working in Memphis) who are avid sharers of the Gospel and are multiplying disciples and churches. One young man there approached Jeff and called him "Great-Grandfather" because one in whom Jeff had invested had lead another to Christ who lead this young man to Christ. Actually, several people there were "related" in that several disciple generations were in the room being trained together. Sounds like 2 Tim. 2:2! (Paul to Timothy to faithful men to others.) The participants rallied around the vision of having No Place Left in Memphis (Rom. 15:23). It is amazing to be part of God's multiplying Kingdom!
Jeff has a very hectic travel schedule over the next several months. He will be in Athens, Germany, Czech Republic, and Switzerland. Please pray for safety, rest, health, and God's wisdom and insight.
Please pray for Miriam as she decides on which university to attend in the fall. She has several "top" picks, but we know God has a place for her already - somewhere. We are asking for clarity and peace when He shows us where.
