The first week in February found us in sunny Florida (although not very warm for a few days). A 4-day 4 Fields training was held at a local church during which 106 people were trained in church planting and hit the streets in the evening. About 70% of the participants were already actively involved in church planting within their own communities - we are seeing God raise up an army to expand His Kingdom! Sixty homes were open to having Bible studies and there were 19 salvations during the four days. The open homes, salvations and existing Christians encountered by the training participants were tagged on a Google map of the area to enable the local team to follow up. During the follow up, which is still occurring, there have been more salvations and baptisms! We also pray that the training participants have seen enduring fruit in their own areas as they returned with encouragement, vision, and a desire to see God move.
During the training in Florida, each table practiced "church," incorporating the elements and functions of a church as seen in Scripture. One of the functions is giving. Each church took up an offering, and all of them collectively decided to give it to us, Jeff & Angie. You see, on the way to Florida, the transmission in our truck overheated and was ruined. This happened on I-95 near Savannah, GA. So, the truck was hauled to a dealership to be fixed, and we rented a car to continue on our way since training started the next day. The transmission was under warranty, but the labor to fix it was not. The churches in the training gathered an offering of $1100 to give to us. We were amazed and humbled by the generosity in the room. This week we returned to Savannah to pick up the truck; the bill was $1100. God knew exactly what we needed before the dealership even ordered parts and began their work. He had already provided!
Those involved with church planting in the U.S. through e3 Partners came together for an e3 USA retreat. We were delighted to welcome our Canadian brothers, too, so we began referring to ourselves as e3 North America so as not to leave them out! It was refreshing to hear stories across the U.S. and Canada of disciples multiplying and churches planted. It is amazing that as this happens, new disciples feel a call to reach the nations - God's heart.
Jeff leaves for Greece and Germany tomorrow, Saturday. He will be working with a team in Greece who target refugees, including Syrians. Please pray that their hearts will be open to Jesus and the Holy Spirit will transform lives. In Germany, he will be among teams who are reaching out across Europe. Please pray for safety, rest, health, and God's wisdom and insight.
God is raising up a church planting team in Charlotte, NC, which has been an ongoing request. We rejoice and look forward to what He will do there.
